What to Expect When Hiring a Food Blog Writer

After you’ve gone through the steps of vetting and hiring a food blog writer, you may be wondering what’s next. Of course, every writer is different. However, there are commonalities you should expect to see to keep the process streamlined and easy.

1. You should receive an invoice and any necessary contracts

After agreeing to work with a food blog content writer for a certain price, you will receive an invoice. In addition, you may also receive a contract.

Not every writer uses these, and they may vary in length and terms. However, in most cases, a contract will outline the payment amount, terms of service, and refund policies.

2. You should receive the next steps and a way to deliver recipes

Personally, after signing a new client, I assign them to a Trello board. Here, I outline how they can deliver recipes, what to expect in terms of turnaround time and revisions, and how to contact me.

Depending on the contractor hired, they may use a different project management system, prefer email communication, or work on a system implemented by you.

The important factor is to determine a set system to ensure both parties understand boundaries and know what to expect in terms of recipe delivery, what the writer needs from you, turnaround time, and how you will receive drafts.

3. You should receive the drafted blog post and request any revisions

Most food blog content writers allow for at least a couple of rounds of revisions when delivering posts. I tag the blog owner when their posts are complete, and allow them to notify me of any revisions needed in Trello.

From this point, the process of information delivery continues back and forth until the post is deemed complete. From here, I move it to a completed column, notifying the blog owner, and move on to the next batch of posts.

In Conclusion

Every food blog writer follows a different system. However, you want to make sure that any writer you hire has some kind of standard operating procedures in place.

This ensures you know what to expect and helps the writer stay organized. As a result, you will be able to stay on top of a consistent posting schedule, boost your blog rankings, and grow your blog without more work on your part!
